1960 A.E. Nelson Fishing Creel W/Pocket & Strap

SOLD

Description

This creel has a lot of history! It would be a great creel to use and/or put on display. It’s marked George Eastman, part of the Eastman Kodak family, who purchased it from the Meier & Frank store in Portland, Oregon, back when Meier & Frank carried sporting goods. Nelson made the creel, the creel was then stamped Meier & Frank to sell at the store. This creel is pictured on page 108 in the The Art of the Creel.

It’s in excellent condition. The split wicker has a golden tone and the leather has a rich caramel brown tone with a nice patina. It comes with a strap and could be used to fish today.

Stamped into upper back: Meier & Frank Co., Portland, Oregon

Carved into the front and back: George Eastman, 3553 S.E. 72nd Ave.
