This creel is a French weave from grapevine, made in the 1930s, from the famous Daryll Whitehead collection. Creel is pictured in an old Hardy catalog on page 134. It is very rare, have only seen two of this style of creel. It is similar to a creel on page 151 in the book, “The Art of the Creel”. The strap and latch are intact, the hinges have been repaired.
Measures 16 1/2″ by 9″ by 8″.
